Liverpool Sports Forum Development grants 2010


The Liverpool Sports Forum in conjunction with Liverpool Sport & Physical Activity Alliance, is able to make grant awards to clubs and voluntary groups to assist them in providing sport and physical activity opportunities for local people.

Awards For All

The award is a new Lottery funding programme to help support local groups. It aims to fund groups which involve people in the local community or which bring people together to enjoy sports, arts, charities, and heritage activities and fund projects which celebrate the Millennium. 

The sums that are awarded are between £500 and £5000. Priority is given to local groups with an annual income of under £15,000. The money can be used for sports events, training courses, publicity materials, fees, equipment eg. Start up costs, volunteer expenses, special repairs, materials and travel costs, however funding should be used for new initiatives or expanding on existing services.

Foundation for the Sports and Arts
Foundation for the Sports and Arts Grants have been given to a wide range of projects, from equipment grants of a few hundreds of pounds to hundreds of thousands for major facilities. 

The FSA have granted aided money to buy mini buses for several disability sports clubs. The FSA is also one of the few organisations who support individual sports people.

Sports Match 
Sports Match is the government grass roots sports sponsorship initiative. It matches pound for pound for commercial business sponsorship for a grass roots event or activity. Any non-profit making group can apply.

Expanding Horizons Capital Community Chest
Expanding Horizons Capital Community Chest - There is funding available for bids from Merseyside's public and voluntary sector organisations for small amounts of capital funding (£500 - £5000).

Bids Must be for innovative or capacity buildings which fit Expanding Horizons SRB aims and objectives.

Social Capital Grants 
If you are a relatively new voluntary or community group which promotes social inclusion and have had no European Funding to date, you may be eligible for up to £5000.

Positive Futures
A joint partnership between Sport England, the Youth Justice Board and the UK Anti-Drugs Co-ordination Unit. The aims are to use sport to reduce anti-social behaviour, crime and drug use among 10 - 16 yrs olds.

Lottery World Class Programme 
Applications for these awards can only be submitted with the support of the Governing Body. It is to assist the financial commitment necessary for training and competing at a high standard. 

There are 3 stages of development that have been established. "World Class Performance "World Class Potential " World Class Start.

Sports Aid foundation 
The Sports Aid Foundation Ltd, now known as 'Sports Aid', provide financial support for young sports people who already show promise, to help them in training and competition to realise their full potential.

The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund invites applications for grants from young athletes who are in education and may need financial help towards training or provision of equipment. The Fund is dedicated to assisting aspiring young athletes who have shown by their attitude and dedication that they posses the qualities will ensure the growth and protection of sport. Merseyside Sports Partnership (MSP) is a network of agencies working together to develop sport across Merseyside. The six local authorities within MSP are Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral. Our Aims: To assist with the development of individual sports people on Merseyside by: . Encouraging people to progress towards National and International standards . Supporting those who have difficulty accessing alternative funding . Increasing skill and creativity by developing talent How can we help you? We can help you by providing financial support to allow you to develop your sporting skills and talent. Grants of up to £200 are available to fund or part fund a project or activity. Your can apply at any time The panel will sit twice a year, applications need to be in by the 15th December and 1st July each year. You will be told if you have been successful within one calendar month of the Awards Panel decision. How to apply Read through the guidance notes and decide if you meet the criteria. You will then need to contact your local sports council for an application form. Visit the Contacts section of the website and search in Merseyside Sports Council for contact details. The Sports Bursary is aimed at sports people who are aspiring to Regional or County standard competition. Applications will be therefore not be accepted from above or below this standard. Guidance notes for application -Grants will be awarded according to the application and personal needs. -Applicants must be under 25 years of age -Individuals applying must either reside in Merseyside or compete in Merseyside competitions -Applications will be received from all sports -Applications may be received for the following: . Kit/equipment . Travel expenses, costs of lodging when competing away from home, other competition costs . Personal development for those wishing to extend their sporting career . Specialist coaching, other coaching programme -Applicants must provide an end of grant report to show how the grant was used with if possible receipts for purchases -Applications may only be received from members of a club which is a member of the local sports council/partnership -Grant monies must be expended solely on the items being claimed for. The Sports Council reserves the right to reclaim any grant not being used for the specific activity within the grant application -To enable accurate recording of grants provided by the Sports Council, a database will be held by Merseyside Sports Partnership. This database will be used for monitoring and evaluation purposes of application and grants awarded -Repeated applications for the same purpose will not be accepted -The successful applicant should be available and willing to be included in any media coverage -The decisions of the Merseyside Sports Council panel will be final

Charities

BBC Children In Need 
BBC Children in Need is a national grant-making trust which distributes between £10-£20 million a year to help children in need in the UK. 

The grants can be used to benefit children who are 18 years old and under. The grants are for self help groups, registered charities and voluntary organisations. 

The money can be spent on revenue costs, capital costs (e.g. equipment) or salaries.

The National Lottery - Buildings and Facilities 
Lottery funding ranges across the whole spectrum of sports facility provision, form local to international. It is available to elite level sportspersons to assist with training, coaching, travelling, etc.

Capital Community Project Funds 
A second part of the Lottery funding programme which aims at supporting community provision for all. These Grants are for over £5000. 

Priority will be given to areas of deprivation, through Priority Areas Initiatives and Sport Action Zones. 

To be eligible to apply your project must be from a bone fide organisation, that is unable to raise funds from other sources, and your sport must be recognised by Sport England.

Active Communities 
This fund is aimed at new projects planning to increase sports participation in the following 4 priority areas; ethnic communities, people with disabilities, women and girls and people on a low income.

Safer Sports Grounds 
This programme will address the needs of Rugby League, Rugby Union and cricket, in making their grounds safer for spectators. Clubs will be expected to provide partnership funding to match their grant. 

Applications must be made to Sport England in Partnership with the relevant governing body.

Football

Youth Football Development Programme 
Aimed at assisting the 72 football league clubs in setting up academies and centres of excellence to develop the talent of youngsters. 

Clubs are expected to contribute the same amount of money as they invested the season previous.
